Bringing your husband or wife to live with you in the UAE is one of the most rewarding applications we handle — and one where preparation makes all the difference. The rules focus on three things: your income, your housing, and correctly attested documents. Get those right and the process is smooth.
Sponsor Requirements
- A minimum monthly salary (commonly AED 4,000, or AED 3,000 plus accommodation — confirm the current figure for your emirate)
- A valid residence visa for yourself as the sponsor
- A tenancy contract (Ejari in Dubai) or company accommodation letter
- A labour contract or salary certificate as income proof
The Document Checklist
Documents for a spouse visa application
- Attested marriage certificate — attested in the issuing country and by UAE authorities
- Spouse's passport copy with at least 6 months validity
- Passport-size photos with white background
- Sponsor's passport, visa and Emirates ID copies
- Salary certificate or labour contract
- Tenancy contract / Ejari
- Medical fitness test result (done in the UAE after entry)
About attestation
The marriage certificate must usually be attested by the foreign ministry of the issuing country, the UAE embassy there, and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. If your certificate is not in Arabic, a legal translation is also required. This is the step most families underestimate — start it early.
